How We Review Language Courses

Here is exactly how we research reviews, how we make money, and what we will and won't do.

How we research

Our reviews and comparisons are research-based. We compile what each company publishes about its own courses (languages, lesson formats, trials and policies), read independent reviews, and look at user feedback on platforms where users post unprompted. Where a claim comes from a third party, we say so and link to it. Where we have not tested something ourselves, we do not pretend we have.

What we look at

  • Teaching method: how much real speaking and listening practice you get.
  • Coverage: number of languages and levels.
  • Cost model: one-time purchase versus subscription, and what trials or refund policies exist.
  • Who it suits: and, just as important, who it does not suit.

Affiliate disclosure

SpeakRoam participates in affiliate programs, including Rocket Languages through ClickBank. When you click a link marked as an affiliate link and then buy, we may earn a commission. This does not increase the price you pay.

Our promises

  • We will list real downsides for every product we recommend.
  • We will not claim guaranteed fluency, fixed timelines or results that depend on how much you practice.
  • We will not use fake reviews, fake testimonials or invented credentials.
  • We update pages when prices, policies or features change, and show the update date.

Prices and policies change often. Always confirm current details on the provider's own site before you buy.
